At Crystal Clean Ice, our mission is to ensure every ice machine produces clean, safe ice. Ice is more than just a way to cool a drink — it’s a food product classified by the FDA as “ready to eat” (RTE).
Ready-to-eat food products are considered higher risk because there is no additional “kill step,” such as cooking, to eliminate potential pathogens and bacteria.
Unfortunately, ice machines can provide an environment where dangerous bacteria and mold can thrive, including Listeria, E. coli, Salmonella, and coliform bacteria. It is important to note that these bacteria — and even certain viruses, such as norovirus — can survive in freezing temperatures, which means they can still be present in your ice cubes.
According to the CDC, Listeria is the third leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the United States, particularly affecting pregnant women and newborns, as well as the elderly. That is why we have made it our mission to ensure that all ice machines are crystal clean, and that the ice they produce is safe for consumption by our friends and family.
The inspiration for Crystal Clean Ice came after visiting numerous establishments and seeing firsthand how often ice machines were overlooked in regular sanitation routines. We realized that even well-run operations sometimes struggled to keep their equipment clean simply because ice machines are out of sight and often assumed to be self-maintaining.
After deeper research, we found this was a widespread issue across multiple industries — from hospitality to healthcare — and confirmed by health department inspection reports showing recurring violations tied to unsanitary ice equipment.
That’s when we founded Crystal Clean Ice with a clear mission in mind: to make safe, crystal-clean ice the standard everywhere!

At Crystal Clean Ice, we bring over 15+ years of experience from the ice manufacturing industry. During this time, we’ve gained extensive knowledge of every aspect of ice production — from equipment maintenance and sanitation to compliance and food safety management.
Our experience includes developing and managing comprehensive food safety programs built around HACCP principles and preventive maintenance. Our team holds SQF Practitioner and HACCP Manager certifications, reflecting a deep understanding of sanitation, process control, and compliance standards in ice manufacturing.
We’ve also completed factory-level technical training from leading ice machine manufacturers, giving our technicians the expertise to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to exact factory standards.
We believe that overseeing the day-to-day maintenance, sanitation, and food safety of an ice production facility has given us a unique skill set — one that few companies in the industry possess. This hands-on experience gives us a deep understanding of how each of these disciplines must work together to ensure consistent, food-safe performance.
